A few years ago it was considered one of the best bars in Sydney, crowned queen bee among the city's socialites, and though a slew of other bar openings has meant that the fickle have moved on, it still remains a chic spot for an expertly-mixed sunset cocktail. There are more than 26 on offer - try the Kaffir Southsider made with Plymouth, lime, Kaffir lime leaves, mint and sugar. The Loft's interiors are all class, with toffee-coloured leather banquettes, plush carpets, filigree wooden panels and private lounge areas with table service. Though mostly sedate, the atmosphere perks up late at night and during the weekend, when DJs spin lounge and funk that pulls in some of the crowd from Bungalow 8 downstairs. Due to the size of both the bars, and the fact they're located in the same block, the King Street Wharf area always seems abuzz with a diverse inner-city crowd - especially on a sparkling Sydney day.
